Purchase Giraffe Pattern NFTs

TO Protect Wild Nature
Purchase Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) representing unique pattern data from wild giraffe encounters.
Masai giraffes are endangered, living only in Tanzania and Kenya. Each one-of-a-kind token is a carbon-neutral datapoint of giraffe identity in a striking bicolor image that can be collected and traded via the Ethereum cryptocurrency blockchain on the world's first and largest NFT exchange, OpenSea. Every purchase and resale of these NFTs supports Wild Nature Institute's science, education, and actions to protect Masai giraffes. These 62 limited edition data NFTs are the actual data used in Lee et al. 2018 to quantify the heritability of spot patterns from mothers to offspring.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have taken the artworld by storm, and show great potential to leverage blockchain technology to finance nature conservation projects. Wild Nature Institute has issued Masai giraffe pattern data NFTs that represent the 62 unique datapoints used to quantify giraffe spot heritability from mother to offspring. Thus, giraffe pattern data NFTs are not only collectibles, but are also archives of the raw data used in a published scientific paper that advanced human knowledge about giraffes. Giraffe pattern data NFTs will exist in perpetuity on the secure, decentralized, permanent Ethereum blockchain. All energy consumption associated with these NFTs is carbon neutral due to offsets purchased at Carbon Tanzania, an initiative that benefits indigenous peoples of Tanzania, including Hadza hunter-gatherers and Maasai pastoralists. Wild Nature Institute scientists and partners have been working for a decade to learn where Masai giraffes are doing well, where they are not, and why. Our research supports communities working to protect and connect areas important to Masai giraffe conservation.
